New Year's course in the forest. Writing therapy with Camilla Karlslund on January 9 - 11, 2026
Gisselfeldvej 26, 4690 Haslev
Writing Therapy in the Winter Forest — A Gift for Yourself or Someone You Care
After the hustle and bustle of December, time starts to slow down in January and we know, here in the North, that now we have to go through a long darkness. At The Woodland Lodge Gisselfeld we are wrapped in the silence of the forest and here we can enjoy the darkness because it highlights the starry sky and everything else that we do not get to discover in everyday life. The New Year course will give you inspiration to use winter to go to hell with yourself, the pen and the paper.
The themes of the three days are inner kindness, future and change.Do you have anything that has been difficult to say out loud? A feeling, an experience, a memory you have carried alone? Or are you stuck in patterns and yearning for a new direction? Perhaps you are facing a life change or a grief that is difficult to process.
Regardless of your starting point, on this course you will be given exercises and tools to face your emotions in writing and create an overview of thoughts that may have been idling for too long. Writing becomes a path to understanding yourself more deeply and creating space between you and what weighs down.
You don't have to have written before -- only the courage to face yourself and the willingness to listen respectfully to others. Receiving and sharing what is written is a gift, but you decide for yourself when and how much.
Practice by practice, tool by tool, you learn to put into words what has been hidden away — out of shame, fear or silence. You get the opportunity to create distance from old traumas so that they turn into stories instead of defining you. Write not to impress, but to feel, remember, heal — and find home in your own voice.
The event takes place in a small group of max eight participants, with confidentiality about everything shared. Before the start of the course, you will have a personal online or telephone conversation about your themes and objectives, and we will conclude with an individual conversation about your further writing process.
If you are in acute crisis, have a deep depression, are psychotic or otherwise very vulnerable, the course is not for you. Participants must be able to take care of themselves.
About the place
The Woodland Lodge Gisselfeld is located in the middle of the winter forest at Gisselfeld Abbey in South Zealand. The silence here is not empty -- it gives way to narratives waiting to be written. The historic house from 1906, with soul and detail, opens the mind and invites contemplation. Here are spaces for calm, where thoughts can wander freely between words and tree crowns. The pauses become part of the writing process, and the changing light of nature provides new inspiration. You stay in a spacious room overlooking the forest, with the opportunity to retreat to self-immersion. All meals are vegetarian and served in the cosy, historic living rooms. The house has two shared bathrooms and three toilets, as well as several options for scene changing. The Teaching
The exercises alternate between writing and reflection, alone or in the group. We work with short meditations, simple Qi Gong exercises and writing walks in nature — no prerequisites required. The body remembers and carries emotions, which is why it is part of the process. We work with three themes: shame, the inner critic and personal strength. The practical exercises span poetry, free writing, letters, recollections, sensing and dialogues. A Christmas gift idea and a great start to the year
The course can be given as a gift to someone who needs calm, insight and new direction — or to yourself, as a loving start to the new year.
The event is published by Camilla Karlslund in collaboration with The Woodland Lodge Gisselfeld. For details on the trading conditions regarding the course itself, please visit camillakarlslund.dk
